The Self-Reflected Experience
Self-Reflected treats the photo shoot experience as a process of self-discovery and self-expression of the models. We collaborate with both inexperienced "everyday women" as well as experienced professional models.
We provide a nurturing, supportive and respectful artistic environment for the individual choices of each model. Through email and in-person consultation, we take the time to communicate with each model in order to discover who they are and what kind of image they want to create and present. Regardless of choice of style (non-nude, nude or erotic), the photos and galleries represent the freedom of choice of each model that is represented.
Every model is highly encouraged to contribute their own ideas, concepts, wardrobe and posing style to the photo shoots. We believe that all choices of expression (non-nude, nude or erotic) can be captured as works of art that celebrate each model. Each gallery you view represents each model's choices on how to express their body, spirit and personality.
One of the main goals of the project is to capture a visual representation of each model's personality and style. It's critical that the photos and galleries represent the personalities of each model represented. The purpose of this process is to demonstrate to each model that they need only be themselves in order to be a creative inspiration. Our goal is to show each model that they don't need a team of stylists and makeup artists to make them look beautiful. Our goal is to show that they themselves are the creative force and their own bodies and style are the source of beauty that results in a beautiful photograph.
We also work hard to reinforce that the photo shoot is a team effort and collaboration between model and photographer. . It's critical that each model walk away from the experience knowing and feeling that they had a major influence and impact on the photos. It's critical that when each model sees the photos that they see a representation of their true self, not someone else's version of what they should be.
The photo shoot essentially works as an awareness campaign targeted to make each model aware of their inherent physical, creative and intellectual beauty. In our experience, this simple formula can have an extremely powerful, positive impact on the state-of-mind of each model leading to more confidence, awareness and self-esteem.
We welcome your questions and comments.
