Seven Principles of Social Business

These seven principles were developed by Prof.Muhammad Yunus at the World Economic Forum
in Davos, January 2009

1. Business objective will be to overcome poverty, or one or more problems (such as education, health, technology access, and environment) which threaten people and society; not profit maximization

2. Financial and economic sustainability

3. Investors get back their investment amount only. No dividend is given beyond investment money

4. When investment amount is paid back, company profit stays with the company for expansion and improvement

5. Environmentally conscious

6. Workforce gets market wage with better working conditions

7. …do it with joy
Self,Reflected is a cause-driven business. It exists to achieve social objectives.

These objectives include, in no order of importance:

1. Empower emerging artists, designers and small business

Quality photography, imaging, web and print promotions are extremely critical to emerging artists and businesses but can represent significant financial investment.

Self,Reflected seeks out artists and entrepreneurs that represent inspirational creativity along with commitment to community. We then provide high quality photography, imaging and promotions at no charge to these emerging artists and entrepreneurs.

Artists and businesses then have the opportunity to generate income through promoting various Self,Reflected partnerships, products and services.

2. Raise individual and community self-esteem

Self,Reflected
uses the power of photography to show that there is beauty to be found in every person and to showcase the creative talents of individuals.

The photograph provides a reflective experience for the individual to focus on. The subject is able to see their own beauty through the photograph. This powerful experience creates conscious awareness of one's own beauty which leads to
increased self-esteem.

3. Demonstrate the power of collaboration vs. competition

Self,Reflected
seeks out and embraces creative collaborations with other artists and businesses in order to demonstrate the power of collaboration.

What purpose does this serve? We believe that a change of perspective from seeing others as competition to seeing others as a potential collaborative project can have a significant positive impact on our community.
